YOU DON’T HAVE AN HOUR TO WAIT!
Chest Pain – If you experience chest pain, you may showing signs of a heart attack (myocardial infarction). Within the first fifteen minutes your heart muscle can be permanently damaged. Time is Muscle. Within an hour you may have irreversible damage, possibly even death. Don’t wait or think you have time or the ability to drive etc. PCMC can stabilize your condition immediately through use of state of the art medications such as Retavase which is a thrombolytic (clot buster) and Integrilin which is an antiplatelet drug to help prevent clots from forming. Once stabilized you will be transferred to definitive care.
Time is crucial when dealing with a stroke. Thrombolytics must be given within the first three hours of onset of symptoms. With our new CT machine we can identify patients who are candidates for treatment in minutes.

Telemedicine - A fter months of planning and
discussion,
a tele-health service between Powell
County Medical Center ER and Community
Medical Center in Missoula is up and running.
The original idea for this project came from
Chris Foster, IT Director for Powell County
who wanted to link several small CAHs in
western MT to Missoula hospitals for ER telehealth
services using lo-tech internet connections,
web cameras and TVs. This idea encountered
several obstacles especially
around connectivity issues. Kevin Rosenjack
from Community Medical Center was
instrumental in securing a dedicated line between
Community and Powell County and
also helped support the purchase of a high
tech tele-health cart. Flex funds filled in the
gap with the understanding that this demonstration
project will provide documentation
and information for potential IT hardware
grants to fund similar purchases for other
CAHs both in the Missoula area and around
the state.
