Over the past two years alone, the Foundation has responded to the health care facilities' requests by giving nearly $100,000 to help meet their needs.

The two most common and convenient methods of donations are cash gifts and memorials.   These gifts can be used as an income tax deduction.

The nine member volunteer board of directors includes Powell County residents, the hospital administrator and a physician.

Caring for the Community

Caring for the residents of Powell County by insuring that their present and future health care needs are met is the goal of the Powell County Medical Foundation, Inc.

The Foundation, founded in 1986, is a not-for-profit charitable organization recognized by the IRS and is incorporated in the State of Montana.  It exists solely for the purpose of assuring the long-term viability of high quality medical care for residents of the surrounding service area.

The Foundation was initially established to help stabilize the future medical needs of Powell County and the surrounding area.  Since 1986 the Foundation has provided financial stability for the hospital, thereby guaranteeing its continued operation; provided the means to recruit a full staff of board certified family practice physicians, as well as, many outstanding specialists; and, supplied modern equipment when possible.

However, like most smaller hospitals throughout the nation, Powell County Memorial Hospital needs to be updated.  Much of the equipment and nearly all of the furnishings are original, over 30 years old.  In order to continue to be a viable medical facility, the hospital needs approximately $300,00 in new equipment and furnishings.

Funds collected in a previous fund drive in 1986 are held in a trust with only the interest earned being used.  That earned interest is not sufficient to meet the present needs of the hospital.

The Foundation provides the opportunity and the means for friends to support area health care with income for capital and program needs essential to growth and development of medical care and hospital services.  This enables the Foundation to carry out its mission, which can be viewed here.

Caring For Life

We all care for life - for ourselves, our family members, our friends, and neighbors.  The birth of a child is the miracle of life itself.  Recovery from illness or injury is one of life's most precious moments.  Good health sustains the full, complete life.

The Powell County Medical Foundation offers you the opportunity to support through your gifts, a wide range of health services essential to life itself.  The ultimate recipient of your gift could be a member of your family, a close friend or neighbor receiving care and services at our facility.

Showing You Care

When you donate to the Powell County Medical Foundation, Inc. you will be showing that you care about the future of health care in Powell County.  One hundred percent of your donation will go to meet those health care needs.

The two most common and  convenient methods of donations are cash gifts and memorials.  The most helpful cash gift is the unrestricted gift, since these funds may be used to strengthen the endowment fund or applied where the need is greatest.  You can also use your donation as an income tax deduction.

Memorials help perpetuate the memory of a loved one, business associate, organization, family name or friend.  The living memorial is a constant reminder and symbol of the donor's interest in the health and well-being of his/her neighbors in Powell County.

You may designate whether your cash gift or memorial should be used for a specific piece of equipment, for a general need or be deposited into the Foundation's endowment fund.  Only the interest earned on the endowment fund can be used.  If you have a specific request, you are encouraged to contact the Foundation's director at Powell County Medical Center.
